Weekly March 15, 2026: COVID, sewing, Dungeon Club, Void AM 1680

Been kind of out of it the last two weeks due to COVID. I think the most frustrating aspect has been another cognitive discontinuity on top of two weeks of discontinuities. It has made it very difficult to get my head into a new project at work.

Unpacked the sewing machine and finally got my first cuts and stitches on a Free Sewing Simone. See earlier post for background.. My hope is to complete a torso mockup by the end of the weekend so that I can assess whether I need to make pattern adjustments. The torso is the most critical fitting point.

One of the things I like about Bear Blog style is the absence of an obligatory banner image.

Got to read Lee Ostertag's Dungeon Club, Volume 2. It is a nice little younger reader graphic novel about teens using Dungeons and Dragons for self-expression. Looking forward to Die Loaded in July (trade paperback release) for a more adult exploration of the topic. Currently reading Vonda McIntyre's Starfarers.

Did my first play through of Void AM 1680. The game asks you to take the role of an AM radio DJ and progresses by creating a playlist and recorded responses to callers through random prompts. It's a nice relaxing solo TTRPG that can be played while sick using my phone. My DJ persona was Time Traveler Radio, calling out from somewhere to somewhen.

Playlist:

  1. "egg," Josie Brechner (Bandcamp)
  2. "Tightrope," Janelle Monae
  3. "E.P.R.O.M," waveshaper and ocillian
  4. "¡Demolición!," Los Saicos
  5. "Hold On, Hold On," Neko Case
  6. "Love Shack," The B52s
  7. "House Where Nobody Lives," Tom Waits
  8. "Ordinary World," AL1CE
  9. "When the Levee Breaks," Memphis Minnie
  10. "With a Little Help From My Friends," The Beatles
  11. "Royal Station 4/16," Melissa Etheridge
  12. "At Horizon's End," VNV Nation
