Sewing update: self-drafting, mending, and a mushroom
Starting on assembly of first prototype from a self-drafted/cloned pattern. It's based on measurements from an earlier project and armscye and neck curves from a retired shirt. Hopefully this will work a bit better than my attempts to make the FreeSewing Simon/Simone work. I just couldn't quite dial in the right parameters on the Simon/Simone. Since I'm starting from a shirt that (mostly) works I'm hoping this should be a better starting point and a base for multiple variations.
Also put in an evening mending some blue pajamas based on a Muna & Broad Glebe pattern. They were originally just a prototype but have been my most worn item of clothing for at least 6 years now. Probably should retire them but I've not found a good replacement.
Covering/reinforcing about an inch of a split seam. Thought about doing full shashiko but chose to freehand it instead with running stitch. The running stitch anchors the patch to the base and is perpendicular to the split to provide additional reinforcement. Found some other splits that were smaller and just needed some whip stitch to fix.
Spotted this stacked oyster (???) mushroom growing on an ornamental tree near my apartment. Atlanta isn't quite as good for mushroom spotting as Savannah, but I do ok if I keep my eyes open.
