Freesewing Simone v1: Happy happy fail fail!

Work in progress of a grey linen shirt

So I get the sleeves assembled (hard) and the side seams closed (not-so-hard) only to find that I mismeasured my arms. My partner says, "Are they supposed to be three-quarter length sleeves?"

It's probably something I can fix, but there are enough other glitches and issues that I want to move on to v2. I gave myself the full year to figure out how this pattern works, and we're not at the halfway point yet.

Lessons Learned

  1. Do the full assembly when checking fit on a mockup.
  2. Have a friend check your measurements, then check again.
  3. Felling: need a lot of improvement here. While prepping for v2, I want to spend some time practicing on scrap, and maybe use a felling foot instead.
  4. Curved seams: practice on scrap.
  5. Stick to shirting cotton.

Fitting Adjustments

  1. Torso: ok
  2. Sleeve length: increase by 3 in
  3. Collar: increase by 1 in.
